Today, we practiced Judo with the same menu as usual. Judo master Nose said that it is Newaza that is fundamental part of Hitotsubashi Judo, and we were not able to strike upon our opponents with Newaza during the last competition. Coach Nakata said that the critical timing is the moment just after we throw our opponent with Tachiwaza. We kept these precious lessons in mind and tried to utilize Newaza right after Tachiwaza without procrastination.
After the Tachiwaza Randori, we had time to study Newaza skills we have learned these days. Specifically, we reviewed joint-folding skill taught by Mr. Kita, and neck-choking skill taught by Judo master Nose. Captain Takahashi added one more skill to control the opponent’s head while performing Yokoshihokatame at the end of study. Rome has not built in a day. I believe that through ceaseless practices, we will be excellent in these skills.
As weather is hot, it is important for us to protect ourselves from the fever, while upraising the intensity of the practice. We will do our best with honor and nobility that is our heritage.
