Today’s menu was same as usual with Newaza and Tachiwaza in balance. Mr. Kita from Saitama University provided us another great opportunity for us to learn from him today. As senior students are busy with job hunting and some of our comrades are sick, Newaza Randori has been extended, while Tachiwaza Randori has shrinked. However, we were able to practice Judo as usual today.
After the Tachiwaza Randori, Mr. Kita taught us basics of Kouchigari. Mr. Kita always tries to reflect our need to his lessons, and we are grateful for his kindness. Thanks to Mr. Kumazawa, who taught us last year, we all know how fierce and powerful Kouchigari can be. Mr. Kita especially emphasized the timing and swiftness of the skill with one tempo. As many of us use Kouchigari as minor skill, I think it was fruitful lesson indeed. We will practice Kouchigari during the practice.
We have another competition ahead of us now. Every member of our Judo club is doing his best to exert his full strength in the competition. I wish we can fight fiercely without regrets in the competition.
